Thank you for the wonderful exhibition! Going back through the Timmelsjoch we will understand much more about the history of the area. Unfortunately we have not seen any ibexes – but thank you for the explanations, we go to see them now!
From the ice age to the future
The tunnels of the bunker are home to an exhibition area presenting a sort of journey in time through the Upper Passeier: “From the ice age to the future”.
The emergence of the characteristic landscape is explained on the basis of the climatic changes since the last ice age, with archaeological finds from the region to illustrate the settlement of the Passeier valley which goes back some 10,000 years. There are exhibits from all important epochs of prehistory. Important archaeological research over the last years has shown that the settling of the higher areas only gradually moved to the lower parts of the valleys and that the passes and cols were the connecting routes of primeval times.
