Thank you for the wonderful exhibition! Going back through the Timmelsjoch we will understand much more about the history of the area. Unfortunately we have not seen any ibexes – but thank you for the explanations, we go to see them now!

Profound changes
Profound changes affected the village of Moos in the Upper Passeier in the 20th century. As a consequence of the First World War this remote mountain settlement was now a frontier zone. Two barracks were built, the building of the Timmelsjoch military road brought over a thousand workers into the area, bunkers were constructed… and the important link to the Ötztal valley was broken. Bold young men tried to alleviate the need of the period between the wars through illegal trading over the border.
